Mythic Worlds and the One You Can Believe In by Harold Toliver is a great piece of work by the author because it has got all the cream of wisdom that has been collected by referring many other good books with similar genre. This book begins with the actual scientific facts that the present day generation believes. For example, the quarks are the basic building blocks of all the matter and this affects our old belief system. The book depicts about the fractional truths about many belief systems, which are passed on from one generation to the next generation.

The book further explains why the people took the collective illusions driven by skullduggery of the mythologies. These illusions further took the shapes of philosophies and oracular sermons as the generations passed by. The author gives the explanation about the succeeding generations sealing the spoilers that could have sparked controversies. That is done by modifying those myths and philosophies to suit their own requirements. This book further depicts about the development of the imperialism from the oracular sermons, that later metamorphosed into capitalism and socialism by reining in the popular illusions. The book explains how these illusions were further developed into the militant rhetoric and the war gods.

I am very much impressed with this book as it shows the mechanism by which these illusions are passed from individual to individual and from generation to generation. I feel that everyone has some set of belief system. If he or she is peaceful and successful with a belief system that he or she is following, then this book is not for him or her. This book is only for those who wish to come out of their present belief system and want to learn more about the real truth.

Reading this book is not that easy task. Most of the sentences are very complex and loaded with numerous examples and citations into it. To get most out of it, each paragraph needs to be well digested before going to the next. I had to refer to the dictionary few times to know about the difficult words that are used in this book.

This book is an eye opener to me as it shows the reality of most popular old myths, which appears as a gospel truth to the believer of those myths. I feel that there are lots of takeaways to get from this book. Even though this book is not for everyone, it uncovers truth about the world with scientific perspectives, which affects all. I feel it deserves full ratings hence I give it all the 4 out of 4 stars for its valuable contents and negligible grammatical errors.

The book sounds to be rich in historical content such as the famously believed in myths and illusions. I think mystical persons will find the book really helpful and entertaining to read. Nice review Sanjus!

Thanks for an insightful review. I am quite comfortable with my set of beliefs at this time so this book may not be for me. Thanks for being very candid about your thoughts in this regards. Some myths are probably wrong because a lot of general statements are wrong. Well done!

I am comfortable with my set of beliefs but also there's some beauty in discovering the wrongs of general statement. Thinking of checking this book out to uncover the myths and the revelation of truth by this author. Thank you for your good and candid review of this book.
