Review of the Surgeon’s Wife
The Surgeon’s Wife is a story that talks about situations that one does not expect to happen. It talks about Clayton Otherson, a remarkable surgeon who majored in bariatric surgery. He is known for his successful surgeries but lately, his colleagues claimed that he is impaired because he was making errors during the surgery. Michael Boudreaux who is the Chief of Surgery does not know how to deal with this situation concerning Clayton’s career. Clayton is his mentor and both have had a good relationship for as long as he can remember. Clayton’s behavior becomes even more unpredictable when he learns that his wife Catherine is in love with his junior partner Michael. Clayton feels a sense of disloyalty from his long-term friend who is now in love with his wife and at the same time feels betrayed by his wife Catherine. All these gives him lots of uncontrollable rage.
The characters in the book have different behaviors which make the book more interesting to read, from one character’s story to the other. The characters like Michael and Catherine demonstrate how far true love can reach and it can still exist despite the obstacles it faces. Michael is a compassionate character who knows how to treat a woman. The character of Mellissa who is as stubborn as a mule describes a girl trying to fight and prove her parents wrong. Clayton portrays violence and too much rage.
I personally liked all the characters, their roles in the context and how their stories are narrated simultaneously. The author really describes their stories in full length, with passion and he is a great narrator. The story is so interesting that it brings one to fantasize and even picture as if the whole scenario is happening there and then.
I like the way the author has used the hospital environment to bring out the context of this story. It adds more flavor to the roles played by every character in this book. The book intrigues a reader to want to know more of what will happen at the end. Personally, I was really eager to know the revenge that Clayton was planning on Catherine due to her betrayal.
I would rate this book a 4 out of 4 stars. I rate it this way because it was really comprehensive.I found only two errors. The book fulfilled my expectations and I would recommend it to anyone who likes reading stories that have suspense. I enjoyed this book and I would like to reread it once more.
