Final Notice written by Van Fleisher is a fictional novel. It has real-world issues that will hit home with everybody. Final Notice begins with an older couple who are trying to keep up in this vastly changing world. While watching the news, a spokesman for the NRA spoke about the need for seniors to have guns. This is due to the fact that they have become the punching bags of society. Along, with women, children, and minorities. Is this starting to sound vaguely familiar? It gets better, the NRA is offering a special senior citizen discount for any senior willing to defend themselves. Shortly after the NRA spokesman was thanked, by the newscaster, a story came on about a resident at an assisted living facility. The gunman was wheelchair bound and shot aimlessly into the home before a security guard was able to kill him. Trudi and Vince are not sure what to think about either situation. Did they really need a gun to protect themselves? Why would an older gentleman do such a thing?

What would you do if you knew you only had one week to live? The hope is people will use this time to get their affairs in order before death. But what if it was a way to settle the score with a longtime bully or and ex-boss? There are so many options, and this novel will take you through a few of them. It also highlights how important it is to welcome refugees or anyone that is not like us, into our world. This novel points to left-wing ideology pretty hard but does a decent job of trying to show both sides. The big twist to this novel is the ability to know when you will die.

An entire paragraph is repeated twice in this novel. I was wondering if it was just the kindle app I was using, but I've never had this happen before. It was not a big deal, just slightly confusing with a hint of deja vu. The characters come full circle, and it's easy to see how our actions can be like dominos. When one thing happens, it causes a ripple effect in the world around us. I didn't find anything wrong with this novel, other than it can be a little one-sided. It is fiction, in a way, so keep an open mind.

This book will make you think about your own life and how you treat people. There was a point in this novel that I shed a tear for the characters. When you read a fictional story, it's easier to digest the hard stuff, because you know it's not real. School shooting, gun violence, and disrespecting minorities are too real. I feel like this is something that should be read aloud in schools. It hits on many issues that need to be talked about in the world today.

I rate Final Notice 4 out of 4. There are not a lot of books that I would read twice, but this one made the list. It’s a perfect fiction novel that teeters on real life. I would recommend this book to anyone that likes history or politics. Everyone should read it at least once because it will make you think differently about situations. Warning, there is violence involving two dogs that could be gruesome for some.
