Who Told You That You Are Naked? by William Combs is an interesting non-fiction book that talks about how sin came into the world through Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden and the consequences of their sin to them as well as to us Human Beings. Just like other Christians,William, who is a retired Presbyterian minister and a Doctor of Ministry Degrees from Fuller Theological Seminary, came to know about sin, faith and salvation through the Biblical teachings.He connects passages from both Old Testament and New Testament in order to explain his view on the subject.
The Author introduces the reader to the book by considering how life at the garden of Eden was so interesting, how Adam and Eve were lured into sin and the kind of life they experienced after leaving the Garden of Eden and the subsequent killing of Abel by his brother Cain. William Combs thoroughly explains the knowledge of evil and good by examining faith, the life of a Christian and how God has redeemed Christians from the evil through their faith. William's take on this Biblical story provides a challenge to Christians that there is much to think about other than just reading the Bible.
The book vividly provides the plans for salvation and talks about real faith and little faith, the challenges of being a faithful Christian, what it takes to be a true follower of Jesus Christ and the mindset of most humans that they don't need salvation. The questions at the end of each chapter is thought-provocative and extremely helpful to the reader in meditating upon the various aspects of life. The book explains that the consequences of sin is death but there is hope through salvation and strong faith in Christ.
The Author's own testimonies and testimonies from other people in the Bible, as mentioned in this book, give an additional information and insights that he presents to us readers. This book has completely changed my view of sin and salvation and the origin of death and why Humans have no power over death. It clearly reminds me that though Human Beings are sinners by nature, there is still hope for us through faith and salvation. My rating for this book therefore is 3 out of 4 stars.
This book is pretty best to the bible study classes, the newly-turned Christians and to those who want to deepen their understanding of the Bible and Christian life.
