This genre of book is not the typical subject I would go for, so I didn't know if it would be an enjoyable read or not, but I was very keen to find out! I quickly realised the book was going to be an extremely deep read, and it really got my brain thinking and analysing many subjects. That was enjoyable, and the author clearly had in depth knowledge and had thoroughly researched his information, a very well written book.
Mythic Worlds and the One You Can Believe In looks at, explores and examines misconceptions of world history. Suggesting that there is much to debate, in terms of what is reality and what is not. Even saying that we are made to believe myths rather than reality. It was incredibly interesting and fascinating to question myths which we see as real, and comparing them to the possibility that that may not be real.
Using subjects such as geography, mathematics, science, philosophy, literature, arts, to attempt to explain the constant wrong or right difficulties the subjects have had as a source, and how these are a constant source of world wide tension. Also with a suggestion that the Government, political leaders, hold a power over the people.
Its an interesting read, I did enjoy it, though I did not agree with all of the conclusions. I would say that to fully enjoy this book, its best to have an interest in misconceptions or theory's to begin with, to fully appreciate this genre of book.
It covers many areas including false notions, beliefs, the misconceptions, which were deeply looked into. Its one deep read, but fascinating to look at the false notions. Plus looking into beliefs to see what really exists. What's real and what is not.
The book contains many scientific terms, which could make it a complicated read. So it may help to have an interest to begin with. But it was fabulous to read. I give this book 3 out of 4 stars. It certainly gets your brain exploring the world of world history, and what's real and what is false.
I did like this book and I would say if you want to look at the world in a questioning way for awhile, and think of the theories of what's reality or not, what is a myth or not, then this book is for you.. Fascinating, though a complicated read, and must be read with an open mind, and question the points before making your own opinions.
