Toni the Superhero by R.D. Base is an educational book for small children. Inspired by her own children, this book is intended to develop attentive reading skills that help children enjoy reading. The book is an excellent tool for all small children to develop their reading, listening, speaking, and comprehension skills. The story is short enough to hold the attention of a young reader and the use of color adds visual appeal. The book is geared to children in the early stages of learning how to read and can be enjoyed by ages 0 to 4.

Everyone needs a superhero. Toni is a great role model for children learning to read. The content of this book not only offers a simplistic method of reading, but also encourages the formation of good and healthy habits. The book also promotes the development of good social skills and fosters a spirit of helping others. Even when Toni is not wearing his superhero costume, he does not lose his superhero abilities. He is a superhero because of the way he lives his life. This helps young readers develop healthy self-esteem. A young reader can model this same superhero status as they accomplish their daily tasks.

It is important that children have a strong foundation especially when it comes to reading. Reading is the fundamental in a child’s development. Fostering creativity and imagination encourages a child to dream and aspire to become more than they are. A child is never too young to learn. R. D. Base is offering a good start for all young children.

I found the book informative and useful as it helps children to grow and develop their thinking and creativity at many levels. The illustrations are adorable and they will put a smile on the faces of young readers. It is definitely a must-have in school and children’s libraries, and parents can include it in their child’s personal collection of books at home. It is a fun read. More books like this need to be written for children to enable their growth and development during the initial years.

I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. There were no grammatical errors. This story can be enjoyed in many different settings. The book makes a great bedtime story, is good for library time, storytelling, and personal time. Boys and girls will both like it. It is an easy book with pictures on every page. I love the illustrations. I look forward to reading other books by this author and anticipate that this material will be timeless.
