I was very intrigued to follow along with Ellie Ment and her science adventure, written by Bertie Stephens, in Ellie Ment and the Material Matter. Ellie doesn't belive in magic, she believes in science and always wants the scientific explanation for what is going on around her. The book does a great job of clarifying, the chemistry and physics, as events are discussed. Some things may seem like magic until someone can explain the science behind it. Ellie's friend Micheal does not always see things from her perspective, science. Micheal brings art and creativity into the story. The pair shows that friends do not always need aligned interests to get along and the magic of science can still be shared. I rate this book a 5 out of 5 . If you are looking for adventure, education, friendship and real world issues this book will hit the spot. The book seems to be geared towards middle school aged kids, but could be enjoyed by a much wider range of readers. The excitement of chemistry is infectious, leaving me wishing that I had the periodic table memorized too. I am excited to see where Ellie Ment progresses, and what she will learn on her next adventure in life and her education. The friends want to tackle environmental issues, caused by generations and hopefully solved by the up and coming generation. They show others that you do not need to be an adult to tackle problems and think scientifically, especially when there are others that share your interest and passion to help you out along the way. This book could be an inspiration to young scientists to explore and experiment with the environment around them. I am looking forward to re-reading this book and sharing it with my elementary kids. I would recommend this book to others 5/5!
