Toni The Superhero is a children book written by R.D. Base and illustrated by Debbie Hefke. This book is about a little boy,Toni with extraordinary powers. However, this book doesn't have a proper storyline, so for those who wanted to read a story book with interesting storyline will be disappointed.
The first impression of this book for me is the cute illustrations on the cover page. Even as an adult, I find it cute, so eventually it can catch those children’s eyes as well. At first, I’m quite surprise of the simpleness of the book but this doesn’t stop me from continue reading it. It is a book with most pictures and simple sentences. It doesn’t contain dense and complex words, so the readers can understand the book easily.Therefore this book suits for children whom like colourful pictures with short and simple sentences.
In this book, Toni is a positive boy, as Toni doesn’t show sad emotions. In my opinion, the readers can learn optimism from Toni. Besides, Toni is a helpful boy that helps in chores. So I think this book can influence the children to help in chores by reading it. Other than that, there are still many good habits shown by Toni in his character. So I will recommend this book for the children and parents.
The only part that I don’t like in this book is the author didn’t show how Toni helps others by his extraordinary power in this book. This is because I will like to know how Toni help others with his power, not just by showing a picture of Toni flying on the sky and lending a hand for the cat on the tree. However, this book shows us that hero also has a life as any other normal people do. He eats, plays and sleeps like everyone of us. In my opinion, this shows that every one of us can be the Hero. I loved this concept in this book.
Despite the author didn’t show much on how Toni helps others with his extraordinary power in this book, I will rate this book as 4 out of 4 stars, because the illustrations are colourful and no mistakes were found in this book. Furthermore, Toni The Superhero is just the first series of the storybooks from the author, R.D. Base. So I am looking forward and finding out more on how Toni helps others by his extraordinary power in the next series coming soon.
