Heaven and earth is a science fiction novel written by Arturo Riojas. The book is about cadmium poisoning which plagues the planet and poses a serious health issue. It portrays the union of four individuals who works together to save the planet and in the process learned about the government’s hiding from its citizens.

The writer brought out effects that cadmium poisoning may pose to the health through the facts on cadmium at the end of each chapter. He also went forward and mention that the readers who are not interested in the cadmium issue are to skip over these facts on cadmium. This is the most important and educative part of the book and it is the reason why I really loved and enjoyed the book.

The author raised questions as to whether the government agencies are doing their duty in protecting the citizens from the situation at hand. The group of four individuals came together and work to investigate the matter after learning from the various diseases outbreak resulting to the death of the victims. In the process they came in contact with an alien who was searching for the remains of his brother after a spacecraft crashed. They realized that the government denied the citizens vital information concerning their health. They protect the industries and prioritize them over its citizens. The alien gave them help on how they will sort their situation and in return they helped him on locating the remains of his brother and also mapping a strategy on how they will overcome the alien enemy muimdac.

The style used by the author in introducing the characters at the beginning of each chapter makes the storyline unclear. The chapters don’t seems related but the author steers and builds the story through the chapters. The author used equivocal words which are really unnecessary to an ordinary reader. The author’s English also is not well refined. This might not encourage common readers.

In conclusion I will give this novel a rating of 3 out 4 stars. This is because it an educative book, it addresses the dangers of bad health practices. It is also quite comparable to the government practices that is presently rampant in various countries. The reason as to why I’m not giving this book 4 out of 4 stars is because it fails to justify its title. I recommend it to people who are intrigued by educative stories.

I had read this book before and found it quite educative especially about heavy metal poisoning through food.
life is only knowing the unknown, we can do this by reading books easily- Online book club is a great place for this. This is what I believe.

I was interested until I got to the part about the alien. Whenever you read a novel like this, you have to be willing to suspend a little bit of reality. But there sometimes comes a point when the book just takes one turn to many for me. I enjoyed your review though.
