Your review almost had me in tears. I can see how the stories affected you and I don't know If I am brave enough to read it. The things humans are capable of... It's frightening. Really great review.

I sampled this book and knew it wasn't one I could make it though. Thanks for a great review. This story needs to be told. I wish I could handle reading it.

The stories that are difficult to read are the once that are needed to be told. Thank you for commenting!

This subject is so harrowing. I have steered clear of this book because I don't think I would manage to get through all of the traumatic scenes. Thank you for sharing your thoughts, I really enjoyed this review!

Thanks for this review. It sounds like these are very poignant stories that should be shared and heard. I don't think I'll read it myself right now though. I'm just hearing to many depressing stories in the news today!

There are a lot of depressing stories in this world that take place, even now. Thank you for commenting!

I felt each characters pain deeply while reading and reviewing this book. I'm still amazed by the author's brilliant and powerful use of language. I know I'll be looking out for other books by her. Thanks for the detailed review.

If you like books like these try WW2 memoir books. They all have the same effect. Thank you for commenting!

This book reminds us of how evil man can be. From the murderous Cain to the atrocious Hitler to the unforgiving Shah - we won't lack for shocking stories of killing. Mankind should be kinder and not behave like beasts.

When that is achieved, man will need nothing else.

I also read and wept with this book.

I concur with your rating of 4 out of 4 stars for this narrative which was an amazing read, I think I an quite sensitive and can be brought to tears from just reading a tragic story. Thus I felt that the author although writing of tragic narratives gave just sufficient details to make it both credible and palatable.
