The Advent of Time by Indignus Servus is a riveting and thought-provoking exploration of why evil exists in our world. This question has always intrigued me personally, so I was genuinely curious about the author’s explanation—and I was pleasantly surprised by the depth and clarity of the answers presented. Written after the author’s military service and traumatic experiences, the book feels deeply personal and sincere. Indignus Servus approaches the problem of evil not with simplistic answers or vague justifications, but through a combination of Biblical insight and scientific research. Many people tend to explain evil with catch-all phrases like “karma” or assume people must have deserved their suffering. This book challenges those notions with a thoughtful, scripture-based response.

A central message of the book is that loving God and loving others are the most important acts we can perform—more important than any ritual or rule. The author does not shy away from addressing the apparent contradiction between the existence of a just, wise, and all-powerful God and the presence of evil in the world. He also explores the role of human free will in allowing both good and evil to occur, noting that happiness and healthy relationships are essential to a meaningful life.

One fascinating idea in the book is the suggestion that the concepts of time and space may not have existed in the way we understand them before humans began exercising free will. The book delves deeply into the Genesis narrative, offering insights into why humans were created and how that will tie into the existence of suffering and evil.

I gave The Advent of Time five out of five stars because it offers a well-rounded explanation of a complex topic, supported by both Biblical references and real-life examples. The writing is clear and accessible—ideal for high school graduates or anyone looking to engage with deep theological discussions in a readable format. It would also be an excellent resource for youth group discussions. Additionally, I found the text to be free of grammatical errors or typos, which made the reading experience even more enjoyable.

If you’ve ever wrestled with the question of why bad things happen in a world governed by a good God, this book is definitely worth your time.
