I gave Becoming The Dragon, by A. Sapegin an enthusiastic 4 out of 4 stars.

Andy hasn’t been normal in a long time, being struck by lightning has that effect. He can learn at an alarming speed, but he can no longer even step into the same room as a computer. As strange as Andy’s life has become it hasn’t prepared him for the new life he must face after stepping across the boundary between one world and another. Luckily, lightning exists in his new universe as well and once again a single bolt changes the direction of his destiny.

There was so much to like about this story! If you loved Harry Potter and Lord of The Rings as an adult you will love the gritty, intriguing, magical world that the author sets just outside our reality. Although the main character begins as a boy his raw description of his world shows a depth of understanding and inner strength you’d expect of an adult hero. The story is fast enough to ensnare and detailed enough to amaze. Magical as well as political intrigue abounds as new characters come into play throughout the story.

It does not take long for the complex and emotional history of this new place to wrap the reader up in ideas of how our hero may have been destined for this journey all along.

Falling into a new universe can be quite a leap for even the most dedicated fans of the fantasy genre. The authors success in suspending the readers disbelief begins from the first meeting of the main character. Andy is both oddity at home and the only normal person he knows of in his new world. While that twist sinks in the author moves on to the next turn of fate that casts this normal person as the oddity even in a world where magic exists in everything around him. Each new creature must be carefully judged as friend or foe to survive and it holds the reader in that constant suspense that good authors strive for.

No character is one dimensional and the rich description of each new place gives a colorful and mysterious home to it’s inhabitants. Diving into this book guarantees finishing it, and finishing guarantees you’ll be exited for the next!

I did not find any grammatical or typographical errors in this text. I went over the text twice and no errors were apparent.
