Island games written by Caleb j Boyer has Mathew and Ryan as the two main characters that the reader sees or hears.
Island games addresses the issue of teamwork and strength of friendship that gets better in every adversity. The four quadrants that Mathew and Ryan find themselves in have different challenges, yet the determi nation to overcome this challenges and go to there families safe are an inspiration. From there first challenge of retrieving food from a boat without being eaten by a shark to the platform in the erupting volcano, there resilience is unmatched. While Mathew is reserved and Ryan is a fast actor ,they tread with caution
in solving every obstacle that bedevells them. They use to there advantage what is available to them in memory that is "that they are friends and must do all they can to overcome the challenges and get to their families safe.
The different quadrants within the island from the jungle to the prairie and from the desert to the erupting volcano not forgetting the frozen islands each quadrant has its own fair of challenges. In the volcano the last of the four quadrants they find four keyholes that fit there keys.A plat form rises which they jump onto to escape the lava and the story ends.
Loved his use of quotes like " a warrior acts inspire of fear, is willing to do whatever it takes, even if its hard.A warrior is bigger than any obstacle and never gives up".
Another quote was "Regardless of how they felt or looked, they still had each other and they discovered along this journey that they were all they ever needed".
I feel this book is a great inspiration to young writers that they too can make it. Again the use of simple language which would make for in aided reason for the young is commendable. Realising that he wrote this book when he was only 12 years I would in all fairness rate it 3 out of four.
However there were issues that I felt if proper editing had been done would have been avoided. For example the repeatation that "if Mathew was concerned Ryan was concerned.
Again the use of too many coma's here and there.
The abrupt ending of the story would be good if he did a followup with another volume so that it becomes a series for without that the reader is left in ahungup situation all in all it was a good read.
