"The Defeat of COVID": 500+ Medical Studies Show What Works & What Doesn't” by Colleen Huber, NMD, is a written insight and explanation on proposed better approaches towards handling the COVID pandemic. As of the time, 2022, when this book was written, it gives some alternative medications, criticizing some existing modes of administration of treatment. The author, a naturopathic doctor, compiled over 500 citations to gear her readers toward an efficient understanding of what works and what doesn't in combating the COVID-19 pandemic.

This book taught about medications that work proficiently in the treatment of COVID-19 over the already existing approaches such as masks, vaccines, and modes of diagnosis. Huber suggests that vitamin D, vitamin C, ivermectin, zinc, and hydroxychloroquine work better for the treatment and prevention of the pandemic. She insists that trying alternative methods is recommended and can be effective other than the strategies used by the United States only.

Huber's accumulation of references and study data in availing quality proof and easier analysis of the point being put forward is an appreciable feat of this book. I also appreciate her for considering a broader audience, making this book quite comprehensible to any educated person.

On the other hand, I noticed some imbalance in the author's judgment, being that she only validates conclusions that correspond with her view on these points and data and puts down information that contradicts them outright, and that didn't sit well with my conviction. The efficacy and precautions taken in treating COVID-19 using ivermectin and hydrochloroquine were not addressed adequately. Juxtaposing the level of interrogation between the mainstream method of approach towards the pandemic and the proposed alternative, the author was biased, favoring her proposition, which is something I consider a downside. I would prefer a considerably fair and balanced criticism between both methods for good credibility.

This book was well-edited; I didn’t find any grammatical or typographical errors. It was systematically arranged with an organized structure aiding its readers' progression. However, the wealth of data and study references may overwhelm the reader and affect the complete assimilation of the information; hence, I rate this book 4 out of 5 stars, deducting one star due to the possibility of misinformation I perceived while reading and the imbalance and unfairness of various criticisms in the book that made certain arguments feel one-sided.

I recommend this book to people interested in discovering alternative approaches to COVID-19 medication. Also, this book contains different perspectives aside from the mainstream information about the COVID-19 pandemic and would be fit to be recommended to health practitioners, professionals, and researchers seeking further understanding with study references.

This seems like a bold and well-researched take on alternative COVID-19 treatments. While the perspective may be one-sided, the data and insights offered could spark important discussions and give readers a lot to think about.

I agree that the author's judgment should be balanced while writing research books. This book might be interesting to readers who are intrigued by naturopathy. Thanks for your review!
