[Following is a volunteer review of "The redemption of Sebastian Priest" by Paul Bartlett.]
The Redemption of Sebastian Priest, a fast-paced criminal thriller by Paul Bartlett, focuses on Sebastian Priest and multiple female murders in the surrounding area.
Catherine Riley is an ambitious journalist who aspires to write stories that expose the truth to the public. Her boss, Jackson Kessler, asks her to conduct an interview with Sebastian Priest, an elderly man who claims to be God's son. Catherine is persuaded by her boss to interview Sebastian, even though she doesn't think this is the kind of story she wants to write.
In the meantime, hikers have contacted the police after discovering a body. Janell Moore, the newly appointed Chief Inspector, is looking into this crime. She discovered that the victim had been murdered and that a few days prior, a second body had been discovered with the same cause of death. Catherine believes that something strange is happening with Sebastian. Will Sebastian's truth be revealed to Catherine? Will the police be able to solve the mystery surrounding the murder of these girls?
From the beginning of the book, Paul Bartlett does a fantastic job of establishing a sense of mystery and suspense. The book was a page-turner that I found difficult to put down. The multiple points of view made the book more engaging and appealing; the transitions between these points of view were seamless and well executed. The author has also done an excellent job introducing and developing each of the book's characters.
I would rate this book three out of five stars. I enjoyed reading the book but had some issues with the editing and the ending. There were numerous mistakes in the chapter formatting, and the book's editing is subpar. The ending felt rushed and underwhelming, and it could have been explored more.
The Redemption of Sebastian Priest is great for readers who enjoy thrillers and mysteries. Because of the high level of violence in the book, it is not appropriate for young readers.
