[Following is a volunteer review of "When Business Is Love" by Jan Ryde.]
What if a business could be run by love? If a company could not survive by competing but by loving? Jan Ryde explores this profound idea in "When Business Is Love," offering a unique step-by-step guide on how love and business could be fused like rubber and glue. This is not a story about old history, but a blueprint for the young entrepreneurs who want to have richer meaning in what they’re doing. The book reveals how following your values will keep your company standing in an ever-evolving global market. The most successful people in business and life don’t just find success around products; they will also find success around people, passion, and purpose.
I am very impressed by Pehr Adolf Janson, the founder of Hastens. He's the man in the book with an imposing personality. At the age of 18, he began his career as an apprentice saddler. Becoming a master in that trade in those days was no small feat, for to do so in 1852, he had to get a certificate from the King of Sweden. In "When Business Is Love," the author investigates what happens when business is done out of love. Hasten's beds are not only products; they are built with love, created to improve sleep and ultimately, our world. Readers will be inspired by Jan Ryde’s insights into what business could be when motivated by love.
It’s not just a book about entrepreneurship—it's a book about the heart of business: how love, when placed at the center of an enterprise, literally harnesses the power of purpose and innovation, while no stress or competition can. That's why I would rate this book 5 out of 5 stars. As for myself, I did not find any dislikes in this book; it had been fully capable of attracting my attention.
If you are a business leader, an entrepreneur, or just someone who craves some purpose in your life and wants to generate profit with love, this book is perfect for you. If you’re looking to rebuild and create a meaningful business legacy that blends values with a vision, it’s a must-read! The editing of the book was well done, flawless, and excellent.
