Opaque by Calix Leigh-Reign is a beautiful novel that showcases the life of Adam, his strange feelings and sensations about humans, and an unusual attraction towards his mother. The story is well-connected with sci-fi, supernatural elements, and history that evolves and keeps you engrossed till the end.

You will progressively learn about Adam’s journey of self-discovery as an adoptive child. His true origins, extraordinary abilities, and ancestral heritage are worth looking forward to. The revelation about different aspects of his life and relationships has unexpected twists and turns. The author has beautifully explained the world of descendants, their powers, and the connections that bind them.

All the characters have significant and distinct roles that bring the narrative to life. The portrayal of emotions and interaction is such that you can envision the scenes as they are in front of you. The novel can be readily adapted as a movie. I especially like the character of Carly, as she is witty, self-confident, and executes strength and beauty. Her chemistry and loyalty with Adam are adorable, and their love and connection grow stronger as the story progresses.

Overall, I really enjoyed the book and learned a lot of new terms from it. However, I did find some parts difficult to understand due to frequent shifts, which required me to reread certain sections. Despite this challenge, it didn't detract from my overall enjoyment of the book. Therefore, I would rate it 5 out of 5 stars.

This book is absolutely gripping, keeping you on the edge of your seat until the very end. It beautifully depicts the importance of friendship, family, and the deep connections we share. I highly recommend this book to mature adults who enjoy science fiction, as it contains mature content and will truly fascinate those who love this genre. Looking forward to the next installments in the Scion Saga series.
