Sigfried is trying to figure out what is the cause of smell in his room. There is an old potato that was left by his uncle, and he found his sister Piper’s diaper, too. Could this be the source of the smell? There is chewing gum, slice pizza, peanut butter, and his naughty dog Oscar, but the bad odor is very strong that keeps on bothering him. Under his bed, he found his problem's source. Can you guess what it is? It is a pile of pairs tiny things under his bed.
Cleanliness in the room is very important because it reflects who we are. Organize surroundings and clean room will help us think better and able us to perceive positive thoughts. Our concentration will not be bothered by littering, dirty things, and bad odor. The author portrays untidiness that will lead to poor hygiene and poor behavior. At an early age, a child’s development training by putting things in the right order will make a child grow responsibly.
Len Foley’s book Sigfried’s Smelly Socks will teach us the importance of having a clean and organize room at home. Used socks will often cause problems if it is not putting directly into the laundry bag. This book shows the result of poor behavior, untidiness, and laziness. It will teach both the reader and the child not to do it as Sigfried did.
I like the author’s writing style because it matches the drawings and the font style. The reader will easily notice colored words that match the drawing. The rhyming words sound funny like Piper and diaper, read and bread, and clumps and lumps. There is a good grammar, and I didn’t find any misspelled words in this book. The child will easily identify what type of drawing along with the explanation of the reader. I will recommend this book to all parents who like to read bedtime stories to their little ones.
I enjoyed reading the book because I could relate to the story. It is short, full of fun and entertains a child’s attention. Therefore, I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. The author helps the parent explain why things must be in the right order. Len Foley makes the book as an educational tool by adding colors to it. I don’t have any negative comments because it is easy to read, simple, and the drawings will easily catch the child’s interest.
