HEARTACHES by H.M. Irwing a romance novel, that focuses on the suffering of people on the hands of their supposed loved ones. The story is of two shattered souls that are desperately looking for redemption at whatever cost. Will they be able to get over their terrible pasts?

Anna lost her father at a tender age and had to live with her mother (Jane Walters Simmons) and her stepfather (John Simmons), who is later murdered by his son (Brian Simmons).Anna meets her boyfriend (Matt Preston) at the college and he defends her from all the bullies at school but isn’t aware that it’s the start of a rather painful ordeal. Anna is then sexually assaulted by three men who lead her into depression and makes her hide from the cause of all her problems Brian Simmons. Anna Walters- Simmons decides to confide her deepest secret to a stranger, Rafe Brown at a get together party. In order to obtain justice she decides to move in with him to prevent her mother from finding out the truth and protect her. Anna and Rafe find comfort in each to get over the painful experiences and their demons that keep haunting them.

HEARTACHES as the title states they are evident on the story like the case of Anna, where she was betrayed by Matt. This book has explicit sexual content that is very common with Irwing’s writing. The book shows the extent at which people are willing to go to protect their loved ones despite the battles they are fighting themselves. This books helps the readers be able to make choices for themselves by viewing how Anna chose to change her life and be able to fight for their rights.

The characters in HEARTACHES are brought out clearly by Irwing making it easy for the audience to understand them. I would recommend this book for adults because of its mature and steamy sexual scenes. I would encourage people to read this book because of its captivating story and very well constructed work. It brings out the importance of a person in other person’s life like the case of Rafe’s influence on the life of Anna.

I would rate this book a 3 out of 4 stars because it is well written making it very easy to read and follow. The suspense at the end where the books ends suddenly keeps you yearning for more which makes it a good read.
