Review of Mouse Trax
What would your reaction be to being called 'Another Human'? Well, this is what happened to Another Mouse, as his parents decided to call him, after being the 17th child born to the parents. Another Mouse lived in the library, where he learned to read by running his nose along the text. He ate mostly finger food and sometimes pickles, which he disliked. However, one spring afternoon, the door was left open, and curiosity got the better of Mouse. Outside that door, outside his world, which had been the library, a great adventure awaited. However, Mouse's adventure was long; what could go wrong?
I love the tale of Another Mouse. For a mouse that had not seen the outside world yet read about it, he was bound to discover much, which he did. The story has a lot of interesting characters, and the stories within the story are told in poetic form. The author took his time to construct rhyming pieces skillfully.
From the myriad of characters in this book, my favorite was the fox; his idiocy was baffling. My least favorite character was Chatterbox. He talked too much (the secret in the name), although he later became useful to Mouse. This is not to forget all the characters that had an impact on Mouse's adventure, including One (another interesting story behind the name). Reading the book got me to review different life virtues from Mouse's life. The story is also brimming with educational content on parasites, birds, and the behaviors of various creatures and beings.
I rate Mouse Trax: A Mouse Survives Monsters, Predators, and Pirates in a World of Rhyming Characters by M. H. Dixon 5 out of 5 stars. The editing was professional, and I found nothing to dislike whatsoever. A blend of poetry with such an adventure is needed for entertainment, just like in musicals.
I recommend this book to all readers, both young and old. Another Mouse's adventure is one to take advantage of, especially with the associated humor. Mouse's story was told by the rest of his generation, and I see it as fitting that no one should miss this part of Mouse's history.
