Review of Exodus

[Following is a volunteer review of "Exodus" by Jean Hackensmith.]
"Exodus" by Jean Hackensmith and Joseph McDowell is an incredible science fiction novel that captivates the reader's attention from the first chapter.
About fifty years before the current timeline, after a meteor shower, some scientists discovered that a rogue object—a neutron star they called Ulysses—would obliterate Earth in a few decades, and the only way for humanity to survive was to abandon the planet, escape the solar system, and seek refuge in another solar system. The year is 2023, and Earth has just lost one of its smartest minds (David) alongside five others in the trial of the first antimatter-powered space dive after the spaceship Aquarius exploded. This spaceship is humanity's only hope to escape impending doom, and the responsibility to perfect this work rests on David's son, Garrett. Does his shoulder bear this weight? Is he able to save humanity? Find out in this captivating read.
One of the major reasons I enjoyed this book was the captivating plot. "Impending destruction of the earth," "space exploration," and the "possibility of exploring uncharted planets" are some of the most exciting plots a science fiction book can have, and the authors delivered a masterpiece. Another strength of the book is the gradual and consistent character development as the story progresses. The authors' choice of vocabulary and the decision to use words that even nonscience-oriented readers easily understand or find their meanings are another amazing strength of the book.
I had no dislikes whatsoever for the book; rather, I must also commend its excellent editing, as I noticed no grammatical or spelling errors capable of posing a disruption to my reading experience.
I'd rate this book 5 out of 5 stars for its captivating plot, consistent character development, and flawless editing.
I'd recommend the book to adults and young adults who are fans of science fiction novels.
