Health tips, tricks and myths is a non fiction book written by Morton E.Tavel, M.D. Dr Tavel is a retired physician who specialised in internal medicine and cardiovascular diseases. He was a clinical professor at Indiana university school of medicine and a consulting cardiologist for the care group, Inc., etc. His medical research includes over 120 publications, editorials, etc that have appeared in peer reviewed national medical journals. This book is divided into three sections: tips, tricks and myths.
The section tips deals with the health benefits of chocolate to green tea, red meat and wine, shell fish and fish in general, etc, it also includes some tips on how to aid weight loss, things to consider when buying painkillers, benefits of exercise, etc also it gives great advice about heartburn, nasal allergies, foods to avoid and why, etc. The section myths deals with conspiracy theories, the polygraph test, genetically modified vs organic foods, stretching before exercise, etc. The section tricks deals with chiropractic treatment also known as alternative medicine, dietary supplements, alkaline water, etc. This is just a few of what this book has to offer.
In today's world there are lots of misconceptions about lots of things with regards to health, fitness, exercise, etc. A lot of people in our world are overweight or slightly overweight and as a result are suffering from a number of cardiovascular diseases among others. In a bid to lose weight and be fit they fall victim to these misconceptions. This book will help these people make the right choice. It will serve as a guideline for as many as want to lose weight and keep fit. It will help as many as are confused about certain health issues and diets.
This book is very educative. It is also interesting as well as entertaining. What I like most about this book is that the chapters are concise i.e brief yet containing all the necessary information. I also like the fact that all his suggestions, tips, etc are all based on concrete evidence. He supports his statements with scientific research, sound medical journals, etc. I don't think there's anything about this book that I don't like.
This book has cleared a lot of doubts I've had about food and certain health issues and I know that it will help clear a lot of doubts anyone is having. I advise that as many that read this book also recommend it to as many of their friends and relatives as possible. I believe this book will bring a positive change in our world.
I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. It is professionally edited and easy to understand. This book will appeal the most to all medical students and students studying to become nutritionists, dietitians, the overweight, as many as are confused and have thought of patronizing alternative medicine and the society at large. This book will appeal least to all those who have faith in dietary supplements, chiropractic treatment, the idea of detox, etc. The truth is always bitter and I advise as many as believe in the above to read this book wholeheartedly.
