Review of Tara's Journal
The ways of the Father are mysterious. The world of the supernatural, with those who stand at the right hand of the Almighty Father and those who are minions of the 'Father of Lies', is in constant battle. Tara's Journal (The Tara's Journal Saga Book 1) is an endearing account of the spiritual world.
Jacob could not remember his dream. The mysterious creature in his house ensured that it remained so. Jacob's ways of jumping from club to club and his behavior of constantly hurting women welcomed a force into his home. However, the one woman who stole his heart was Madison. Madison and her daughter, Maria, were devout Catholics. She prayed for Jacob even when she knew he did not want her around. Jacob hated women and intended not to get married but rather to use women. However, he had a special gift; in another dimension, a meeting is being held in his regard, yet in another, a counterforce is created.
In another city, Tara, Matthew's sister, joins a satanic cult as a part of her journalist assignment. However, time passes, and Matthew doesn't hear from her until he receives a package from her.
Tara's Journal (The Tara's Journal Saga Book 1) by Catherine Anne explores the spiritual world and the world of Christianity. Reading this book taught me a lot more about religion than any other book I've read. One has to remember that this is fiction, but the way the author tackles the story shows how well she has understood the Christian religion. It is like getting to learn about how your life decisions will impact you, along with getting to learn the word while still enjoying a good plot of fiction.
While beginning the book, I thought that there were many characters, only to learn that their roles intertwined. Catherine has provided a detailed description of each character, making them unique beings. I have not come across any other book that gets the description of heavenly bodies and Satan's minions as well as this one. Tezra, Syree, and Mitka, the three guardians, had special features that made their appearance in the book a calming moment. Reading the descriptions of different demons could instill fear in anyone. I love how emotions and feelings were unequivocally captured. Pride, joy, disgust, humility, etc. All these are common feelings in the world of spirituality. It was these feelings that helped me decipher where each of the characters stood.
Reference to books and Bible stories is common in this book. For this reason, I believe this book is more suitable for people who would love to learn about the spiritual world and Christianity. Despite the many characters, the shift from one scene to another was seamless. The emotional transition and the character dimensions were well done. I loved learning about their pasts, what they desired, and what brought fear to them. To show how diversified the characters were, I ended up having an unlikely character as my favorite, Bene't.
However, I found some aspects of the book disengaging. On the first page of this book, the title is Tara's Journey. However, every other place, including the book cover, includes the title Tara's Journal (The Tara's Journal Saga Book 1). However, book two of this saga is titled Rachel's Journey. I have many assumptions concerning this, and I would love it if this aspect were clarified. Additionally, I found some of the information in the book insufficient. Going through the entries in Tara's journal, it is not explained how Matthew came to access the journal. I would appreciate it if information, however small but bound to confuse, was not eliminated.
I rate Tara's Journal (The Tara's Journal Saga Book 1) by Catherine Anne 3 out of 5 stars. This is a special kind of fiction that brings many aspects to life. I loved the characters and their presentation. However, I have deducted two stars from the rating for two reasons. There are a lot of unexplored aspects, as I mentioned in my previous paragraph. The author did a good job with the plot, and a few revisions might sum it up. Additionally, the book might need another round of editing since there are errors that distract from the reading process.
Tara's Journal (The Tara's Journal Saga Book 1) stirs up some controversial information, and I recommend this book to those sturdy enough to read it. If there is one thing I have learned from reading the book, it is that, although fiction, if humans were given the ability to see the spiritual world, there would be no doubt as to what choice they would make.
