Working from Home: Making it Work for You by Thomas Engblom is a nonfiction book that critically analyses remote work. It outlines the history of working generally and the origins of remote work. Remote work was encouraged to reduce commute time, improve work-life balance, and lower personal expenses. While it was only an option before the pandemic, the devastating effects of COVID-19 made it mandatory. Engblom cites the benefits and disadvantages of remote work for employers and employees and refers to many articles and studies that can be beneficial for further reading.

Working from Home: Making it Work for You by Thomas Engblom is a wealth of information on remote work. I liked that the author gave an in-depth discourse about remote work, including ways to maximize its benefits for employers and employees. The book even includes things to consider when setting up the home office, such as equipment, apps to be used for meetings, internet service providers, etc. The book emphasizes the importance of ensuring that productivity remains the same in a remote setting compared with when working from the office. The book also highlights the importance of support groups, such as family, friends, and co-workers, in achieving a good work-life balance when working remotely.

My only criticism is the number of articles and studies in the main body of work. I would have preferred if some of them had been referenced as footnotes, as they became somewhat distracting. However, this was only a personal preference and did not detract from my reading experience enough to remove a star. Other than this, there was nothing more to criticize about this book. It was also meticulously edited, as I found no errors. As a result, I rate Working from Home: Making it Work for You by Thomas Engblom 5 out of 5 stars.
