What is this terrible smell? The boy named Sigfried noticed that his book smells badly. He taught his pizza might cause the smell, but he found a peanut butter tiny drops on the book. There is also a diaper from his sister Piper, but the smell is very strong. He looks under his bed. His searching stop rights there. Can you guess what he found? A pair of orange smell like rotten cabbage. A pair of blue smell like skunk feet. And, a pair of red smells like a toilet seat. Can you dare to smell as Sigfried did? If only he washes it immediately after using it, the smell won’t bother him.
The author illustrates that orderliness and cleanliness in the room are very important. Things will easily be located when it is arranged neatly. The author also depicts that being untidy results in poor behavior. A child’s training at an early age about orderliness and cleanliness enhances the child’s growth.
How do you manage your own socks after using it? It causes problems when it is neglected after using it. I still remember my mother’s dialogue, “put your socks directly on the laundry bag.” Len Foley’s book Sigfried’s Smelly Socks give ideas about caring little thing that might cause problems every day.
A smelly sock will result in poor hygiene and, smelly feet resulting from bacteria. The bacteria will contaminate the air that creates bad odor. It will also bother somebody in the house. The story gives lifetime lesson to everyone because we are using socks almost every day.
I like the author’s writing style because it gives emphasis to the drawings. The child will easily identify the colored words that match the drawing. It is very entertaining, full of fun and educational. I do not encounter any misspelled words. The reader will notice rhyme words, and it will be more emphasized when reading audibly. I recommend this book to all parents because their children will learn to do the right things correctly.
I enjoyed reading the book and rereading it. A child will easily understand and enjoy it. Therefore, I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. The author helps the parent explained why dirty socks must put in the right place. The author simply taught as well the basic color in an interesting method. I refused to give negative comments because the book is easy to read. A small child will easily understand about the story.
