And Then I Met Margaret: Stories of Personal Transformation by Rob White is a very enriching piece of work. It is categorized as non fiction, however, I would preferably refer to the book as a motivational memoir.

Rob White like most of us grew up in a small town. Typical of his small town, he was expected to graduate from high school and work in one of the two factories in town, get married, have children and live happily ever after. His decision to go to college marked the beginning of his change from accepting the norm and following his heart. Through his college days, his experiences as a teacher and later as a real estate agent, the reader would learn some very important lessons.

This is a very helpful, informative, encouraging and well-written book. I have read a fair number of self-help, inspirational and motivational books on success and life in general. What makes this particular book special, however, is the realistic take on everything. The book focuses on the author's experiences. It is a very enriching memoir. I would say more than anything, it is the author's way of looking at things that makes him the success of a man he is. This is because non of his experiences are unique in any way. His petty theft, part time jobs while in college, his being duped, having a major business failure, being asked a ridiculous question by a kid and many more are things most people, if not everyone has experienced. However, his take on this changed him one step at a time. I would encourage readers to focus more on his way of looking at things so that they would be able to tap the riches from the "Margarets" in their lives.

The book was well written and seems to have been professionally edited. I found no grammatical error or omission. There was a lot of laugh out loud moments with the numerous humorous lines in the book. I would dare to say Rob White must be a funny man in person considering his write-up. Each chapter began with a myth the author once believed. Then the chapter conveys a story from his life that he learnt a significant lesson. At the end of the chapter, that same myth is repeated along with the reality the author discovered. One of my favorite realities discovered was, "Impress myself, one of the greatest reward is inner peace". The author tells the somewhat embarrassing tale of how his wig fell off his head during a talk with hundreds of participants. His appearance as a man with thick and lush hair was solely to impress others to get their applause. This embarrassing moment helped him accept his baldness and in so doing find inner peace.

Overall, I would rate And Then I Met Margaret: Stories of Personal Transformation by Rob White 4 out of 4 stars. It was a funny and inspirational read. I would recommend this book to everyone. We all met our own "ordinary gurus" in our everyday lives. This book would help us tap into them and make people of ourselves.

I really enjoyed reading your review. I also appreciated the author's sense of humor and writing style. I wasn't as impressed with the book as you, but I did appreciate many aspects of it. Please check out my review. onlinebookclub.org/reviews/by-eva-darrington.html. Thanks!

I agree that the book was more of a memoir, almost an autobiography. The author includes humor in his writing which adds interest to the book. Thanks for your review. Nice work.
