"Corky, the Three-Legged Dog" by Ronald Arne Saetermoe tells the story of a little child who loves dogs and embarks on an adaptation adventure.

The author introduced Matthew, his mother, father, and charming younger sister, Edna. They all lead joyful lives in San Francisco, where homes are on hilly streets that almost resemble candies. Matthew kept himself occupied in his lovely area by giving dogs free walks around his home. This story shows Matthew's love for dogs and desire to own one.

As the story unfolded, Matthew's yearning for a dog intensified, prompting him to approach his parents once more. However, they informed him that he couldn't own a dog until they relocated to a new location. When that day finally arrived, his parents prepared him for living with dogs after he had acclimated, and then they took him to an animal shelter. Since these shelter animals deserve loving homes, I liked the author's advice to visit animal shelters rather than buy them from shops.

He visited every dog at the animal shelter after arriving and saw that they all had distinct feelings. Matthew finally focused on one dog in particular, and while he was making the final decision, he found out that the dog had a physical disability involving three legs. How does Matthew feel about this now? How will his parents deal with this? What's going on in Matthew's little brain? How does Nancy, the head of the shelter, handle the situation? The book thoughtfully and wonderfully discusses each topic.

I rate this book 5 out of 5. The book's advantage is that it is accurate while still telling a compelling story with exquisite illustrations that heighten the narrative's impact. Nothing about this book fell short of my expectations, as I truly loved the way it told the tale. The editing crew performed well, providing a flawless book for an enjoyable read. For meaningful story-reading time, I recommend this book to all parents, children, and educators.

From your review, I gather that this children's book teaches the value of caring for others who have special needs. Dogs are a big part of our families here in North America. Dogs are a man's best friend, it is said. Learning to care for dogs is important before getting a dog. This book teaches valuable lessons about the care. Children and parents alike will enjoy this book on caring for a dog. Read this book with your child before you get a dog or if you have a dog.

I am glad Matthew and his parents visited an animal shelter. The animals there are in need of proper care and belongingness.
Thanks for the review.
