On the Receiving End by Shelia J. Brooks describes the author's life in terms of conquering challenges that arise. She goes into great detail about how she saw her parents fight occasionally when she was a small child, how she got married, and how she struggled with several health issues while working as a nurse. The book skillfully blends personal and professional data together, giving the impression that a seamstress expertly stitched them together.

What struck me was the author's perseverance in pursuing her goals in spite of health issues. She describes why she needed to seek medical attention. She continues to care for her children despite all of these experiences, and she always felt terrible having to say farewell to them as her health deteriorated. She describes how, in her previous role as a nurse, she assisted other patients and how, by happenstance, she became one of the patients who needed the assistance of health aides.

Given her training in nursing, the author has considerable authority on health-related topics. This facilitates her ability to include medical jargon in her explanations while keeping them simple enough for everyone to grasp.

There was nothing about the book that I didn't enjoy. The professional editing and flawless grammar made it simpler for me to read and comprehend the content. The plot of the book kept me interested from beginning to end, and I felt a great sense of inspiration from it.

The story told in this book is one of perseverance, faith, hope, and second chances. Because of its excellent and enlightening substance, smooth writing, and well-edited language, I give this book five out of five stars. I would suggest this book to anyone who is about to give up and to those who are determined to keep moving forward no matter what.
