Amanda and Mark were certain they had never met before, yet they felt a connection like they've known each other for a lifetime. They decide to carry out Past Life Therapy, a form of hypnosis that takes the person to their past life, to see if they'd known each other in another life. Yesterday: A Story of Reincarnation by Samyann is a romance novel about their journey to investigate that past life.

Amanda who has just moved to town for a new job and new beginning finds herself at the center of the news after saving the life of a police officer. It was love at first sight. After losing almost everyone she loves, Amanda vows to close her heart. Mark won't have any of it. Through insults and rejection he struggles to melt that wall of pain that has closed her heart.

Samyann does a great job introducing readers to Past Life Therapy (PLT) using romance. In her hypnotic sessions, Amanda introduces us to Bonnie May Belle, a young girl in 19th century America. The confederate war forces Bonnie's family out of South Carolina. Their journey to, and stay in Chicago to seek refuge was far from smooth. Just like Amanda, Bonnie experiences a string of losses and when love comes she fights it.

The book is 352 pages "short". The narrative alternates between Amanda and Mark's present day struggles and 19th century America with Bonnie May Belle and companions. The narrative flows smoothly through these two different eras and stories. The characters are well developed. There are many characters spread between Amanda and Bonnie's life. This however does not distort the flow of the story nor confuse the reader since each person is just as important as a piece of a puzzle to the narrative.

Yesterday: A Story of Reincarnation by Samyann is very informative and enlightening. The author does a great job enlightening ignorant readers like me on the technique of Past Life Therapy. The concept is explained thoroughly, even introducing the reader to some prominent writers on the subject. Critiques of the technique are also brought out, rendering the explanation unbiased. I was drawn to the history lessons of 19th century America. Considering my little knowledge of American history, I found the insight into the confederate war and the great Chicago fire very interesting. I was basically introduced to the aforementioned things for the first time.

The book is well written and seems to have been professionally edited. I found no grammatical errors. The storyline was interesting with lots of important lessons found throughout the narrative. The fates of Amanda and little Bonnie May Belle and the hope that one of them reflects the other, keeps the reader glued to the book. Though the book is not fast paced, it is not a slow boring write-up.

I really enjoyed the book and believed it was professionally edited. It is for this reason I am giving it a 4 out of 4 rating. I would recommend it to everyone who loves a romantic tale that blends passion, tragedies, pain and romance. It is also a good book for anyone who wants to find out the basics of Past Life Therapy in a fun and interesting way. The book has sexual content and would be appropriate for young adults.

You make this book look very interesting, Bettychi55! While I am Catholic and don't believe in reincarnation, I may just give this a try.

It doesn't hurt to explore new ideas. They only just broaden our horizons and give us better perspective. I think this is why we read and love doing it, at least, it is the case with me. If it helps am also Roman Catholic. Thanks for the reply

I think this book is a cocktail of almost all the elements I relish in a narrative: history, passion, tragedy, romance and a new knowledge - the concept of Past Life Therapy (PLT). That said, the title Yesterday: A Story of Reincarnation hardly appeals to me because of its obvious theme of reincarnation.

Really? This is good to know. But the title comes across as one that will Carry a huge dose on the subject of reincarnation. Thanks,
Bettychi55, for clarifying!

I'm definitely interested in this book. Reincarnation, past life regression is an area that I've been interested for a while now. Too bad I can't find a regression therapists in my parts of the world :(

A great review of a seemingly wonderful book, which I will add to my TBR shelf. I can never have enough past-life related books.
