Book rating: 3.5/5.

The story mainly focuses on dragons and drakes, as the title of the book suggests. The book starts with intense plots that are surprising, and the narrative is smooth. The origin of dragons and drakes in Urath and their conflict is well depicted, providing a good background for the story. The character development in this book (book 1) is good, and the plot keeps you on edge until the end. The book also includes information on all the countries and kingdoms in Tirnerthol, giving a good idea of the story's terrain.

These were the positive remarks I had on the story. There are a few negative remarks that reduced the rating a bit below 4. The story mainly focuses on dragons and drakes and omits to describe other species in the story, such as elves, dwarves, or humans. The differences in these races are not well established in the story. Since this is a fantasy story, these details help to paint a clearer picture of each species' general character. Each story will depict these species in a slightly different manner. What do people think of dragons and drakes in these regions? Do all of them worship them or are they neutral? These questions seem to be unanswered in the story, creating an unclear background for species other than dragons and drakes. The characters involved in the story of other species are explained in great detail, but that doesn’t give a general picture of the population of Tirnerthol or Urath. A deeper explanation of magic and who can use magic is very much required for the development of the story. These details also help to understand the author's thoughts regarding the story in a better manner, which feels a bit vague in certain places. If these improvements are taken into account for further volumes of the book, the series will be a great fantasy story.
