Review of Tales of Urath: Of Dragons and Drakes
Tales of Urath: Of Dragons and Drakes by Arthur J Dorety III. The book takes readers on a journey back in time to a world where mythical creatures coexist with humans and engage in various activities. The author's use of pictorial descriptions to give a mini summary of each chapter and a brief historical background of each dragon, drake, and elf involved in the story made the book even more fascinating. Al Khimia and Alira were half-sisters persuaded to join two other powerful ladies (Ertha, Mistress of the rock, and Sirenia, Mistress of the water) to complete the order of balance even though Al Khimia and Alira had other plans in mind. On the other hand, Lord Kavalla was given a mission by Asmodeus to hunt for his lost treasure and a talisman to guide him through the journey. Helm sought after peace for the world of Urath and went in search of Father Frost. The quest for power and authority led to different schemes and battles among the characters.
The author derives pleasure in telling tales about creatures who have gone into extinction and so, he put in his best in detailing the book to the best of his ability to ensure readers get more insight on the book. The characters in the novel each had their divine power, which they used to achieve their goals, making the book feel more realistic. Lord Kavalla's sense of humor also made it easier for the drakes and dragons to voluntarily accept to go on the treasure hunt with him. What I appreciated most about the book was that it was free of any profanity.
However, there were some errors in the book that affected its cohesion, and at times the plot was a bit confusing. The story kept jumping from one point to another, which could easily sway the reader's focus.
I would rate the book 4 out of 5 stars because of its detailed writing, pictorial descriptions, and lack of profanity.
If you're someone who finds it hard to read through long novels, I highly recommend this book. It would give you a different perspective on novel reading.
