“WAIT A MINUTE! (An Illustrated Novella)" is a children’s book, best read at bedtime. The book is one of the Stevie Tenderheart books, and having previously experienced the author's storytelling ability in "Billy Jack (The Great Escape)," I was too excited to read the book, and the author definitely did not disappoint. The main character of the novel, Stevie Tenderheart, is characterized as a gregarious kid with a rich imagination and a great sense of humor.

Stevie’s thoughts are captured in bright, colorful pictures. Here, he has daydreams of filling his bed with everything from toys and snacks to lions, dinosaurs, reptiles, and monkeys. All sorts of animals and creatures were mentioned, giving the child an opportunity to learn about strange and familiar creatures.

The author's writing style is unique, and I enjoyed every bit of the book. Every child will find it captivating to look at its vibrant and detailed graphics. I love that certain words and colors are associated with colors, giving the child better chances of learning colors and associating items with their color. Laible writes with such inventiveness that it will excite any child's imagination. It's a lovely read for children since he engages his audience in an equally straightforward conversational tone by intruding into their thoughts. The beauty and significance of enjoying bath time and eating healthy are also highlighted in the book, which makes it more educational. I found Stevie’s thoughts funny and bizarre, and the time spent reviewing them was exciting. He eventually realizes that these ideas are merely the result of his imagination and that they will never come true. He finally decides to fill his bed with something feasible—wishes and dreams. Listening to his sleepy thoughts towards the end was very adorable as he began to bid the listener goodnight, using words that could lull any child to sleep.

I have zero issues with the book whatsoever. Therefore, I will give the book a standard rating of 5 out of 5 stars. There were no errors in any part of the book, so it was perfectly edited.

If you are a parent, guardian, or teacher who has or teaches children ages 3 to 8, I totally recommend this; it is the perfect bedtime story for the kids.
