Born from a line of witches, Robert was not an ordinary child. Physically, he was underweight, underdeveloped, and thought to be retarded, but deep inside him, his DNA made him special- he could fly. For a long time, he kept it a secret for he did not want to face the consequences. However, he had to meet with consequences. One night he met the girl he loved but had lost- Emily, a witch. After surviving a deadly shot he began to pursue three witches who made him embark on a journey against unknown evils.

The story of the book Beating Death (resubmission) is narrated by Robert O'Banion in three parts and each part is divided into several chapters. In the first part, Robert recounts the events of his life: his childhood, including family, his schooling, his time in the Navy, and many other events. All these things are so abundant and detailed to read that sometimes it feels like reading a biography instead of fiction or fantasy.

Emily, Greta, and Jolie, their part in the story is very interesting and adds color to the story. These three young ladies are not only presented as enchanting but also very talented. Their role conveys the message of women being powerful and capable of doing something great.

Despite its flaws, I like the main theme of this book which revolves around the battle between good and evil. I rate this book 3 out of 5 stars. Although the story is about magic, there is little magic in it and wormholes are only mentioned in scientific experiments. This book is a good read for fans of fiction who like to imagine superheroes performing in real world rather than building a magical world in mind. To me, it's more relatable to Marvel movies than Harry Potter.

This book is well edited and does not contain any errors except the intentional spelling changes in the dialogues, consider it a part of the story. Have a happy reading!
