"Snatched Up in Heaven" is a children's book that explores the dreams of an eight-year-old girl named Emma. Her dreams take her to heaven, where she encounters characters from the Bible and white-robed angels. As the story centers on her dreams of visiting heaven with her younger sister, the parents help Emma validate the truths about heaven and hell based on what is written in the Bible. It gives the children a glimpse of what being in heaven is like— a happy place with lots of fun. The book doesn't shy away from depicting the scariness, sadness, and heat of hell, providing a clear perspective on these concepts in a writing style that is easy for children to understand. It's a valuable resource for parents facing endless questions from children about heaven, as it includes Bible verse references to support the descriptions. It only shows the Bible book and reference numbers.
As a Christian mother with three sons and a daughter, I highly recommend this book as a bedtime story. I would rate this book a 4 out of 5 very good, above average. The rating is one star less than a five-star rating because, for a storybook, it has limited illustrations to aid in children’s imagination about being in heaven and hell. More graphics about Emma’s dreams of heaven would create more excitement for the storyteller and the children reading the book. As the book showed Bible verse references on the side to support scenes in the story, it would be good to see the entire verse quoted, saving time with the back and forth of checking the reference and the storybook. Based on the character's dream of heaven, it’s supposed to be an exciting place, but there were not enough visuals to create that excitement. The storybook effectively communicates God's love and what heaven and hell are like. "Snatched Up in Heaven" ensures that children become familiar with God's love, heaven, and hell in an accessible and engaging way.
