After a series of particularly heinous attacks on American Jews, the government agencies tasked with investigating them and preventing further attacks once again call on Lara Edmond and Uri Levin to help. Can they figure out who is behind the violence before more lives are lost? Will the investigation cost Lara and Uri their own lives in exchange?

Devil in False Colors is the third novel by Jack Winnick in the “Lara and Uri” series, and Winnick packs just as much excitement and action into this book as can be found in Lara and Uri’s other adventures. However, being unfamiliar with the first two books should not be a deterrent when it comes to deciding whether to read this book. The story and characters are so well written that it is easy to enjoy this installment on its own without feeling like the reader has missed something.

The action in this story kept things moving along at a great pace, neither dragging the suspense out too long nor rushing through important moments. The variety of characters and unpredictability of their actions keep the reader engaged from the first to the last page.

I absolutely enjoyed reading Devil in False Colors and would highly recommend it to fans of suspense or thriller novels. Winnick is very thorough with the detail in this book without making it feel overwhelming to read. Some of the action was quite grisly, but that intensity was a necessary portion of the emotion created in the battle between good and evil.

Overall, I would rate Devil in False Colors a 4 out of 5, and I would recommend it along with the other books in the Lara and Uri series. While they are great as stand-alone stories, familiarity with the characters makes these books even better. In either case, this is a great, well-executed thriller.
