Devil Among Us is a shocking and short book in a crime novel series. The main characters, Uri and Lara, are government agents investigating a terrorist bombing of a Jewish synagogue. It is hard to ignore the bias about "Satan America" and sexual innuendos about gay men and Arab leaders appearing in the first and last chapters. The author is writing to a mature audience. There are several profanities mixed in to emphasize violence and express the character's frustration. There are some brief kissing and implied sex scenes. I did not see any typos.
Uri and Lara are federal detectives in a series of international criminal investigations. The introduction is quick to jump into the terrorist plot against a Jewish synagogue. The point of view is explaining an uncomfortable bias against Arabic Muslims. I am not a Muslim but I felt offended. The religious leaders are not that impressive. The Christian Baptist stereotype to pile up money to build a huge Zionist church in Israel leaves one with a bad taste in one's mouth. The writer is supposed to be an expert on terrorist activities but the entire story is a generalization of political propaganda and prejudices that ignore some the true bullying tactics of both America and Israel towards the Arab Emirates in getting oil. It is very unoriginal.
The writer does a good job grammatically. It has a developed plot and distinguished characters. "The Ghost" starts out as a very impressive, sophisticated villain. However, the story had room for improvement. The writer failed to invent a narrative that does not sound like a bias against Muslims. The repetitive insults undo the war and political strategies of the Israelis and Americans. I thought the characters were boring, typical, poorly trained, bad actors. For these reasons, I gave it three stars out of four stars. I only gave three stars out of five stars because the profanity and sexual content seemed unnecessary, and the bias against Muslims was offensive.
