Review of Play Golf Better Faster: From Weekend Golfer to Pro Golfer in Two Years
If you’re into playing golf at a higher level and are seeking for a novel mode of playing to reach your fullest potential, then “Play Golf Better Faster: From Weekend Golfer to Pro Golfer in Two Years” is your next must-read; and, from my personal opinion, even if you’re not into playing golf better but are searching for a book that helps you use your thinking, feelings, and bad outcomes to your best advantage, this could become a surprisingly pleasant read.
The book opens by addressing the brain and how your thinking impacts your playing golf. Picking a person whose ability you want to imitate and developing strategies to maintain consistency in your game are two relevant points that come next. You will also learn about choosing the right equipment and the ‘Wheel of Golf’ which is a tool that will help you set a plan for your future golf game. “Play Golf Better Faster: From Weekend Golfer to Pro Golfer in Two Years” will teach you how to practice and play, remove bad shots from your head, anchor your best shots strategically, and plan for your future game. Reading the book with care will take you to discovering that one element repeated throughout stands out as critical to your success: What do you think it might be? Most chapters are followed up with practical and novel exercises that facilitate the application of the ideas and recommendations described in the corresponding chapters.
Author Kalliope Barlis has a style that conveys enthusiasm and possibility. Her writing flows smoothly and is filled with energy and clarity all along.
This is the first time I have embarked on a reading journey of improving one’s sports skills. Though new to golf, I found the instructions and step-by-step directions super useful and easy to follow. The informative illustrations in the book are there to visually depict an idea or thought that is best understood through a picture. Where I felt less confident was while trying out the exercises, many of which I could not perform due to a lack of equipment and perhaps even experience; however, just the thought of doing them was invigorating. Mentally preparing and visualizing a wealth of techniques and ideas has opened a door to the power of the mind: How powerful can our brains truly be? I could easily use several tips from the book in my daily routine to take my life to a higher level. There’s just one thing with which I don’t agree in the book: The book mentions that seeing and doing are the same thing to the brain, but I’m not sure that is always true.
“Play Golf Better Faster: From Weekend Golfer to Pro Golfer in Two Years” is a guide whose strength lies in the way it presents ideas and techniques to magnify how your brain works, as it ultimately affects feelings and actions, therefore, how you play. I’m not a golf player, but as I completed this reading adventure, I felt confident understanding how a golf player could become a competitive professional; I even felt excited and moved to start playing it. There’s nothing to dislike about this book; however, I’ll subtract one star due to the minor mistakes and will rate “Play Golf Better Faster: From Weekend Golfer to Pro Golfer in Two Years” 4 out of 5 stars.
