[Following is a volunteer review of "Swimming in a Sea of Stars" by Julie Wright.]
Swimming in the Sea of Stars by Julie Wright is a novel about five teenagers who are struggling with various challenges in their lives. The story is told in a "day in the life" format, and it shows how the characters' interactions with each other make a difference in their lives.
The novel begins with Addison's first day back at school after her suicide attempt. She is dreading facing her classmates and the rumors that are circulating about her. However, she finds unexpected support from Booker, Damion, Avery, and Celia.
Over the course of the day, the five characters share their stories and struggles with each other. They learn to trust each other and to be there for each other. They also learn that they are not alone and that there is hope for the future.
Swimming in the Sea of Stars is a powerful and moving novel about resilience, hope, and the power of connection. It is a reminder that we are all interconnected and that even the smallest act of kindness can make a difference. The title of the novel is a metaphor for the journey of self-discovery that the characters go on. As they swim in the sea of stars, they are also exploring the depths of their own minds and souls. They are learning more about themselves and their place in the world.
The novel is a celebration of the human spirit and the power of the human connection. It is a reminder that even in the darkest of times, there is always hope. I enjoyed reading the novel because it constantly gave me hope that things would always get better.
I found nothing I disliked about this book. It was expertly written from a place of thoughtfulness. The author was compassionate with her writing, and it made the book relatable to readers. I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars. I recommend it to people who are suffering from any form of cancer. I also recommend it to those who feel that all hope in life is lost.
