Review of What is Autism?

[Following is a volunteer review of "What is Autism?" by Damien Rist.]
Who else could provide a more profound insight into autism than someone who has identified themselves as being autistic?
If you are seeking a resource to gain an essential understanding of autism, consider reading this book by Damien Rist titled What is Autism? With the author's identification as an individual with autism, this book has been crafted to raise awareness and foster a deeper understanding of this condition among its readers.
Damien Rist used poetry to convey his message about how people with autism function. In his own words, he clarified that what might seem normal to us might be too much or too little for them.
I know a person or two who has high-functioning autism, and I am amazed by their intelligence and creativity. We can all take inspiration from them that we can implement in our daily lives, both professionally and personally. Just observe how organized they are. They take their time to keep their things in order. They operate in patterns and with planned actions. This can be useful at work and home.
I liked the simple words and comparisons he used to help us understand what it's like for people with autism. His explanations of meltdowns, tantrums, and shutdowns have made me more understanding, especially when dealing with children who have autism.
I found grammatical errors and listed some that are noteworthy. Others are minor, and some might be due to the author's style of writing. However, he could use a proofreader to help edit his work. Nevertheless, it is incredible that someone like Damien was able to create this book. I did not find any profanities, explicit words or content.
I highly recommend this book to everyone who wants to gain a better understanding and be more patient and compassionate towards people with autism. The book doesn’t have any religious bias, so it is suitable for all. As you turn its pages, you will read a thorough and easily understandable explanation of autism.
I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars. The author presented autism in a simple and accessible manner. It was an enjoyable read, and I developed a new sense of empathy for people with autism after reading it. I commend the author for his intelligence and creativity in creating this book. His book deserves reaching as many readers as possible.
