[Following is a volunteer review of "Niching Up" by Chris Dreyer.]
This is an excellent book if you are planning to start your own business and are considering your target audience or markets, if tou want to explore your strategies. Also good if you want to move your business into niche markets. This book will help you with understsnding what niche markets are and how they work. It shows how to determine your niche, what market exploration is needed and how to decide if it would work for you. It shows not only advantages, but also disadvantages of why it might or might not suit your business needs. It explains how niches work, how can you get profit even from the smallest of markets, how to determine pricing among other things.
Book is easy to read and there is not heavy business language. This book does use everyday language. It is easily written with good, simple examples, that helps to understand text and niching principles. Author uses his own field to describe his experiences, that might be hard to relate to if you are not familiar with it. But along those are examples of different fields, or everyday examples from customer point of view that helps to get the point across.
It includes quotes and ideas from other authors that helps to widen the scope. They are blended in nicely with text and it does not feel like you are reading multiple books at a time.
If you are not interested in your own business or starting one, this book might not be for you. Also if you are looking for step by step guide how to do niching, this is not the book. As it gives more wide idea around niching as such. But if you want to consider niching ideas and would it work for your business or how you might benefit from them, this is excellent read.
