28 Disastrous Dates: A (Mostly True) Humourous Memoir by Poppy Mortimer is an entertaining memoir that presents to the reader some of the weirdest, most disappointing, and most disastrous dates the author experienced in her journey to find her true love. From the bar bouncer with anger issues, the man that made her realize that size really matters, the one that catfished her, to the one with "smell like something dead" mouth breath, and the one that smells like curry, the types of men that the author has dated will amaze and amuse everyone.

One of the aspects that I liked about this book is how diverse its characters are. The author manages to capture in her short stories the types of men and the characters of each one of them that you can encounter on your first date. By doing so, she not only presents her disastrous but very funny stories, but she also teaches the reader about the types of men and situations that you can encounter when dating. For example, online dating is a place that is deceiving, and people can be easily catfished, as happened to the author. Another aspect that I liked is how, after each story, the author offers important lessons that she has learned from that date. For example, follow your instincts when something seems off, like in the case of Mr. Hotel California, or when the lack of respect is a big no to a man’s character.

I could not find any negative aspects to complain about. The manner of writing was easy to understand and censured to a decent degree by the author. The stories were funny and put in chronological order, an aspect that I enjoyed.

While reading, I noticed that the book was exceptionally well edited. Because I could not find any negative aspect to complain about and because this memoir was captivating, funny, eye-opening, and educational reading regarding dating, I give this book 5 out of 5 stars.

I recommend 28 Disastrous Dates: A (Mostly True) Humourous Memoir by Poppy Mortimer to any woman who is considering first-time dating or to men who want to learn what they should not do on a date.
