Review of Reconfigurement

[Following is a volunteer review of "Reconfigurement" by E. Alan Fleischauer.]
Reconfigurement by E. Alan Fleischauer is a highly resourceful book about retirement planning and financial management in general. With an average lifespan of 77, people nowadays are living two decades longer than those of the early 20th century. But how are we going to pay for those extra years post-retirement? It is important to plan in advance and save up enough to enjoy a life filled with leisure after retirement. If you haven’t started planning or saving for your retirement, this book is an all-in-one guide to bits of advice from investment to analysis and insurance.
Reconfigurement is a concise and informative book about planning ahead for retirement. The author did a great job incorporating the statistics about financial and retirement planning, which really puts things into perspective. You can understand the workings of healthcare, insurance, and mutual funds even if you have zero knowledge about them before reading this book.
E. Alan Fleischauer has a degree in psychology from the Grand Canyon University, and it reflects in his writing where he mentions different assessments like the Career Aptitude Assessment, the Work Values Assessment, the PAIRIN personal assessment, and the Myers-Briggs Type personality tests to get to know oneself. He has also managed to include many jokes and quotes filled with humor to make the otherwise technical book easy to read.
The only thing I disliked about the book is that it comes across as too technical in some places, and a few parts of the book, like ‘401(k)’ and ‘529 college savings plan’ are not applicable to people living outside the United States.
The book seems to be professionally edited and has no profanities.
This is a great read, not just for people nearing retirement but for anyone who has started their job and is looking into investing and managing their finances.
I rate this book 4 out of 5 stars.
I recommend this book to anyone over 20 years of age, as it’s never too early to learn about financial planning.
