“Snatched Up to Heaven” is a well written, colorful story that easily lets children and adults alike help to understand Christianity. I am not a religious person, but I’m always happy to learn about others beliefs. With that being said, I was delighted at how easily it was explained and put into words that children could stay interested with. The story is not so long as to where a child would get bored or lose interest, and I was able to read it myself without wanting to stop. The illustrations are simple, cute, and colorful, and showed what the story was telling perfectly. I smiled at how happy the girls were to learn about their religion, and Emma’s excitement as she told the story of her experience. Bella is just like any young girl, excited to hear the story and what happened as Emma explained in detail. I also love how pieces of the Bible are included at the bottom of the pages so that anyone can reference them and read for themselves. However, I do think that the story is slightly pushy, and maybe even a little scary for a child. If the child does not repent, then they could go to hell. It’s almost as if the authors are trying to scare the reader into the religion rather than focusing on the belief itself. For that, I would give this book a 3 out of 5. I wouldn’t read this book to my child for fear that they would think they’re going to hell if they don’t bury themselves in this religion. For those that are more religious “heavy”, this could be a good book for them or their children.
