High Crimes Against the Crown is about Conor Caldemeyer; an officer who was put on leave due to being injured in the line of duty. Conor's friend asked him to come on a fun trip to Ireland and since Conor has Irish roots and wanted to learn more about them, he agreed. After arriving, things did not go as planned and Conor found himself in many strange and dangerous adventures.

I really enjoyed this book. It had a lot of pictures and maps (I especially love a book that has maps in it) and references to foreign words and phrases to explain what they mean, which was very interesting and helpful. A lot of the Irish dialog is written phonetically which makes it a tad difficult to read but successfully made me read the words in my head in an Irish accent which gave it a feel of authenticity and I liked that. The story moved at a good pace, was interesting, and consistently suspenseful which kept me wanting to read more. Since I have been to Ireland I especially appreciated this story and its characters, also there were a lot of interesting tidbits of Irish history such as "The Troubles" which was fun for the reader to learn about along with Conor. A sequel has been written and I look forward to reading more about Conor's next adventures.

I rate this book a 5/5 because the book was entertaining, kept me engaged and I liked the characters. I felt the book was heavily researched and included a lot of specific realistic details. The only criticism I have is that a couple of photos were upside down and the PDF version could have been formatted better. For example, some of the lines of text would end in the middle of a sentence and continue on to the next line, and it didn't seem purposeful to the narration to have it written that way, it looked more like a formatting mistake. This is a minor issue and did not detract from the story so I did not rate down for it.
