[Following is a volunteer review of "See a Witch About a Curse" by Loen Hussain.]
I rated this book 3/5 overall and 0.5/5 for spice. This was not a bad book per say, I just wanted a lot more.
What I liked: the plot was right up my alley. Witches, wolves, humor, and some suspense? Sign me up!. I really enjoyed the FMC, she was strong, funny, and had some depth to her that I really enjoyed. This was a very fast paced book and it was easy to read, which I enjoyed. I felt like the interactions with the FMC and pack were very wholehearted and sweet. I liked how much of a slow burn the story is and how the characters are getting to know one another instead of getting down and dirty right away. This book is very much a slow burn romance and I for one, enjoyed that.
What I did not like: As I said before, I really enjoyed how the FMC had depth to her and I felt like we really got to know and understand her throughout this read. However, it felt like the pack or male characters were very superficial and I wish the writer went into more detail and depth regarding their characters and backstories on each of them. There were a lot of questions regarding the boys that I had throughout this read and it left me feeling frustrated because how can the FMC develop feelings for this pack when the writer has described them in such a superficial way. I just found it very hard to relate. I’m the type of person who likes to know everything about the main characters and their backstories. I like to know all the nitty gritty details of each of them so I can fully understand their character and why they are the way they are. This book did not have that and in the future books, I hope the writer provides this.
