[Following is a volunteer review of "Crazy Time" by L. Andrew Cooper.]
Crazy Time by L. Andrew Cooper is a horror novel that follows the story of Lily Henshaw and her friends, Kris, Eric, and Mia, as they experience a series of tragic and bizarre events. The novel begins with Lily and her friends driving home after attending a party when they encounter a strange truck that follows them. The driver of the truck then takes Lily and her friends' hostage, leading to a series of events that include murders, cluster suicides, and Biblical plagues. As the story progresses, Lily becomes convinced that God is out to get her and that she is cursed. She explores the dark side of life by meeting psychics and a Satanist in her quest for answers, while her friends help her find solutions to her problems. Throughout the book, Lily's character evolves from being a non-believer in God to believing, and the novel explores the theme of religion and its complexities.
The author's writing is crisp and to the point, making it an easy and interesting read. The plot is filled with twists and turns, shocks, and unexpected events. The characters are well-developed, and the author has created a unique and scary story. Crazy Time is a unique blend of horror, fantasy, and suspense that is action-packed from start to finish.
While the book proved to be a thoroughly enjoyable experience with its intriguing narrative, it is also worth noting that its length and abundance of disconnected incidents may detract from the overall coherency and impact of the plot for certain readers.
The book Crazy Time also explores the power of friendships and relationships. However, the dark and suspenseful scenes might not be suitable for readers who are sensitive to profanity, obscenity, or elements that contradict certain religious beliefs. Overall, I give this book a rating of 4 out of 5 stars for its well-structured plot, well-developed characters, and unique blend of genres.
While the book may be too dark for some readers, I highly recommend it for those who enjoy horror fiction that bleeds into fantasy and surrealism. The plot is full of twists and turns, and the author has perfectly merged darkness and the divine in this fantasy novel. This book is well-edited and highly recommended for mature audiences interested in the horror and thriller genres. Overall, Crazy Time is a well-written and captivating read that is sure to keep readers on the edge of their seats.
