What if magic was real? How would it fit into our world, where everything obeys the laws of physics, government, and hierarchy? The residents of Voulhire might probably have much more to say about it. Voulhire is a country made up of hard-working citizens, built from the ground, guided by acclaimed leaders dedicated to their fate, to cities surrounded with walls of gold. Voulhirians understand innately, that the only route to prosperity is diligent work and loyalty. In the shadows, however, Voulhire is cursed with a dark reality. There exist kinds of people who have learned the art of drawing magic from the magic universe, Caromentis. These people are called mages. One such individual is Dalehei Meldorath. Meldorath having mastered the art, is not shy to use his abilities to cause chaos and spread terror to the people of Voulhire. How will the king and his thralls deal with such a formidable enemy?

We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies by Matthew Tysz Is a book about a young gentleman, Galen Bray, who comes from the lands of the princes, a place immersed with war, to Voulhire. His uncle died and left all his belongings and his blacksmithing craft to Galen. Rowan, his uncle’s estate executor, and friend, helps Galen hit the ground running by showing him where he can get white iron, with which he can forge the best swords. On their quest, they are faced with an experience that has their tour turn to adventure around some of Voulhire’s famous towns.

Galen is stunned by the beauty of Voulhire. Everything he'd heard about it was true and more. But what he doesn’t know is that beneath the invaluable infrastructure and class, the Voulhirians are paralyzed with fear. The crimes of Meldorath are horrifying. Everyone in Voulhire dreads the man, and for reasons that suffice. If that’s not enough, The Riva Rohavi terrorists, who had gone silent for a long while, have surfaced back, armed with new leadership and revitalized youth. The people of Voulhire don’t stand a chance.

Besides all the drama, I got to see how far people can go in the name of vengeance. Readers will also see how a wise man for an enemy can be very dangerous. I liked especially, how the author was able to transition smoothly the different plots in the story, and how it all came together. I enjoyed getting to see how the author brought to life the characters. I could predict how some of the characters would react to certain events in the story, and this was a good thing. It bolstered the readability of the book, making it very indulgent. I couldn’t keep it down for long for the few times I did.

The book was efficiently edited and I found no errors. I didn’t find anything to dislike about it. Also, it being the first of a nine-part series, a lot is still unanswered; however, Mr. Tysz intends to continue the story. For readers who don’t enjoy long stories, I do not recommend picking up this book. As for me, I don’t have a problem with this, I cannot wait to read the sequels. For this reason, I rate the book five out of five stars.

If you enjoy science fiction and fantasy books, keeping in mind the plot goes on in eight more books I highly recommend this book.

I really enjoyed your review if i’m being honest and I have actually thought about it like what would the world be like if magic was real. Honestly while also wishing it was real, on a side i’m glad it wasn’t too as i believe the world would be more corrupt than it already is. A wonderful review.

This seems like a great book The adventure and fascination of Galen stand in stark contrast to the horror and criminal activity of Meldorath. I hope that things go Galen’s way. I might just have to try a new series.

I agree with you on the part that it would be negative, it would mostly result in chaos. Thank you for reading the review and for your comments.
