The answer is yes! If you are considering, thinking or reading the synopsis to decide whether to invest your time and money, the answer is yes. As I read the last scene, I was shocked that the book was ending. I am now petitioning for a book series for the novel, Binge by Anne Pfeffer.

Binge is a 302-page novel. The book title explains the story. Binge: to indulge in an activity, especially eating, drinking or taking a drug, in excess. The story follows our main protagonist, Sabrina, An aspiring romance author who works for an overbearing boss of a talent agency. Between working in a toxic environment and her rocky relationship with her sister, Sabrina is surrounded with constant negative emotions to process. Food seems to be doing the job perfectly.

When Sabrina's book gets accepted by a publishing agency, it looks like her dreams may come true. Things take a U-turn when her publisher, inspired by a picture taken four years ago, wants that as a concept for her fan meeting. The problem is Sabrina has gained weight since then, and the clothes are no longer her size. Sabrina, confronted with the reality of her relationship with food, looks nothing like the reference picture, and her publisher is unaware of this.

Sabrina decides to lose weight before the fan meeting, taking her on a rollercoaster of self-discovery.

If I were to explain in detail the things I like about this book, I fear I would exceed the maximum word limit. I will contain my excitement and state my most compelling point.
The first point, the story is real. Yes, it is a work of fiction, but anyone who has struggled with binge eating will relate deeply to this book. It accurately describes the cycle the person goes through. I liked how she showed how stress led her to eat. It was the moment when her boss shouted at her, and in her anger, she thought about the box of chocolates in her drawer. Her embarrassment after a binge. Her resolve to change and her doubts about the possibility of change. It is simply brilliant. If the reader struggles with binge eating, they will feel understood. If the reader does not suffer from binge eating, they can see through the lens of those who do.

In addition, the secondary characters are well-written. How their stories influence and intersect with Sabrina's recovery made it enjoyable to read.

I have no negative things to say about this book. I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars. The only way the author can improve is to make this into a book series, but I do not have any request to change anything about this book. The writing is phenomenal. There were no dull parts. Every chapter took us through the life of a person that suffers from this disorder. For these points, I remain resolved with my score on the book.

I recommend this book to everyone. I do not see a demographic that would not benefit from this book. However, I especially recommend this book to people who want to understand what life is like for those who struggle with binge-eating disorder. I also recommend this book to people who suffer from binge-eating disorder. It will help you feel understood.
And might I add, it is a very binge-worthy book!
