[Following is a volunteer review of "The Poison Of Perfection" by Angela Wadley.]
The Poison of Perfection by Angela Wadley has its first-ever printed edition in February 2023. It is a self-help guide that focuses on the need to choose progress over working toward perfection. This nonfiction fastidiously explains the negative effects of seeking perfection. The author, Angela Wadley breaks it down into aspects of our existence that are dear to us. Starting from our appearance or body through to our dating life, career, and zen. She listed under every aspect practical steps to take and how to avoid chasing perfectionism. Countless times, she has detailed the fact that seeking perfection kills growth, therefore instead of seeking perfection; excellence and progress are ideal for growth.
The poison of perfection remains one of the satiric guides that talk about perfection, gratitude, and self-discovery. I feel this book speaks to every individual doubting their potential and lacking confidence. It goes beyond confidence into self-discovery. Is there a thing called perfection or we are just chasing a mirage? After we have attained perfection, what next? Do we stop growing? These are not rhetorical questions. They have their answers in the book. I thereby entreat everyone seeking to improve, to read this book and most importantly apply its contents in real life.
Reading this book has opened my eyes to the basic expectations that destroy me instead of aiding in growth. In light of this, I have noted things I need to change as an individual. Expectations I need to drop to attain genuine happiness. I have realized that I don’t need 100% skill or ability to venture into something. With the little I have, I can progress over time. Doubting my abilities because I feel I’m not yet good enough will only leave me feeling never good enough. Therefore, with the knowledge acquired from this book, I will apply the outlined measure to my life daily.
After thoroughly reading this book, I can say emphatically that, it has been well edited with no spelling errors or misuse of punctuation. Taking into consideration the style, tone, diction, and blending of both simple and compound-complex sentences, I am fascinated with the rhythm and flow of words. With nothing to list as a dislike, I accord this book a 5 out of 5-star rating.
I recommend this book to persons who want to improve their lives and be genuinely happy. I also recommend it to people finding it difficult to relate well with others. Let this guide be your guide.
