Review of One Hand Two Hearts
A lot has been written about poverty. People are dying all over the world as a result of hunger, homelessness, a lack of economic resources, and other factors. Many strategies for eradicating poverty are being developed around the world. This kind of poverty has devastating effects on people's lives. There is another type of poverty in which people have plenty of resources, but refuse to share them with others. They require more to fill their homes. This poverty is similar to the previous one in that a lack of money has disastrous consequences for society; on the other hand, a desire for a large sum of money has disastrous consequences for society.
The author of this book One Hand Two Hearts by S.K. Alfstad brings up another aspect of poverty. This poverty is associated with having a lot of resources, but those resources are spent on others. In this story, James Vansbricken, a Christian minimalist, is the type of person who enjoys sharing his resources with others. The other character in this story is Fred, a money lover of Jimmy's family. Unlike his brother Jimmy, Fred enjoys wealth and luxury. Nonetheless, the story expands toward this genuine love for others. The story goes on to broaden Jimmy's genuine love for others and strengthens this godly love to live for others in Jimmy's friends as well. As a result, Jimmy's friends Bobby and Scott became part of this serving journey.
The title of the book is inspired by S.K. Alfstad's father-in-law, who had one hand, but a kind heart and was always willing to help others. This is a short book based on sharing resources with others. The intention of the writer is quite clear in terms of living a life that should be a blessing for others. The individualistic approach is quite clear in the story of Alfstad's book, Fred is captivated by such desire. Whereas Jimmy has communal perspectives to face societal challenges and live for others.
The monopoly of having the desire to grab everything is a very common practice in our society and Alfstad's point is very clear in this book. Though, on the one hand, Jimmy's and his friends' approach to leveraging their privileges for the sake of God's kingdom is exceptional. On the other hand, this is so important in the sight of St. Paul that his focus remains upon the Oneness of the Church. The fractured church in any context cannot demonstrate the reign of God unless heaven, which is the real treasure is closed upon her prayers. So, to leverage our Privileges for the kingdom of God is a lateral approach.
This book is helpful for everyone. It invites everyone to understand the calling of this world to make it a better place to live. I would rate this book 5 out of 5 stars. This is because it focuses on improving people's lives. I enjoyed reading this book. It is well-written, has a good reading flow, and has few and no obvious editorial errors. This book is simple to read and appeals to readers of all ages.
